Client: Palley Residence in the Oakland Hills

Challenges
  • Take a nondescript house and give it some style.
  • Allow the client to take advantage of the views of two bridges.
  • Expand the upstairs to include a second-floor master bedroom/bath suite.
  • Improve the flow of one room to the next.

Solutions
After surviving the Oakland Hills fire, the client decided it was time to expand and take advantage of their two-bridge view of the San Francisco Bay. The new master bedroom retreat captures that beautiful sight and includes a viewing deck. Custom low cabinets, built-in bookshelves and the perfect built-in day bed were added.
The stairway leading upstairs was moved and walls removed to completely alter the flow of the house. At the exterior, the front entryway was redesigned, and features a new large glass awning. Custom handrails grace the front entry.
